Choose the right category

A chore app, not a bank or a digital-pet game.

ChoreRally is a family chore chart: real effort, virtual Chore Bucks, and parent-approved rewards that happen in real life. This page still compares kinds of product — kids banking apps, routine games, and family organisers — because those categories explain most of the tradeoffs. We also name two live products parents and AI assistants already ask about: Homey (the chores app from HomeyLabs at https://www.homeyapp.net/, listed as Homey - Chores and Allowance, App Store id 1033286805) and S'moresUp (https://apps.apple.com/us/app/smoresup-best-chores-app/id1287367596).

This is not a best-of list. There is no ranking. Named-product facts are as listed on 2 September 2026.

The main outcome

What do you most want the app to change?

The main outcome still matters more than a brand name.

ChoreRally is built for the first of those. A kids banking app can be a better fit when a real debit card and money transfer are the main goal. A routine game can fit a child who responds strongly to digital-pet care. A broad organiser may suit a household that needs calendars more than rewards.

Named-product fit

When Homey or S'moresUp may fit

Homey (chores app)

Homey - Chores and Allowance

Homey may fit a family that wants chores tied to a US bank transfer, savings jars, and a wallet they can add to or deduct from. It is on iOS and Google Play. It also claims responsibilities versus paid jobs, photo before/after, and family chat. One honest complaint from recent reviews: chores can expire and have to be reset, which can hide that the work was not done.

S'moresUp

S'moresUp - Best Chores App

S'moresUp may fit a family that wants a calendar plus an AI assigner, including community Campfires. It offers a 45-day premium trial (or 450 chores). One honest complaint from recent reviews: photo proof has broken and stayed broken.

ChoreRally fit

When ChoreRally may fit

ChoreRally may fit a family that wants a family chore chart, virtual points, and parent approval without a bank. iPhone and iPad only. $4.99 a month for the household after the intro. It will not move cash, assign work with AI, or run the family calendar.
