1. The service
ChoreRally is a private family chore app currently available for iPhone and iPad, with Android planned and a companion website at chorerally.com. Parents create chores and rewards; children complete chores, earn virtual Chore Bucks, and redeem parent-approved rewards. ChoreRally is operated by ChoreRally ("we", "us"). By installing the app, creating a household, or using the website, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use ChoreRally.
2. Family accounts
A ChoreRally household is created and owned by a parent or legal guardian, who must be at least 18 years old. The parent account holder is responsible for the household: for the accuracy of the information in it, for the PINs that protect each profile, and for how the app is used within their family.
Child profiles are restricted profiles inside the parent's household. They are not independent accounts, they have no email address of their own, and they exist only under the parent's control. Parents can edit or remove a child profile, export a family backup, and delete the household and its data at any time, as described on the account deletion page.
3. Children
Children use ChoreRally only through a child profile that a parent created, inside that parent's household. By creating a child profile, the parent confirms that they are the child's parent or legal guardian and that they consent to the child's use of the app. Purchases, subscription decisions, household settings and data controls are available to parent profiles only.
4. The ChoreRally Plus subscription
ChoreRally Plus is a single monthly subscription for the whole household. One subscription covers every parent and child profile in the household — there is no per-child charge.
Child profiles are included inside the parent-owned household and never purchase a separate subscription. An adult using a separate Apple Account can receive access through Apple Family Sharing when the purchaser has enabled Share with Family and Apple determines that account is eligible. Apple Family Sharing availability and eligibility are controlled by Apple and the purchaser's Apple Account settings.
The current subscription is sold through Apple's App Store and billed by Apple to the Apple Account used on the device. The price is shown in the app and in the store listing in local currency before confirmation. We never see or store card details.
Auto-renewal. The subscription renews automatically each month, at the price shown at the time of purchase, until you cancel it. The Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
If the subscription ends. Your family's data stays yours. Chores, rewards, wallets and history already in the household keep working: children can still complete chores, parents can still approve them, and rewards can still be redeemed. Creating new chores, rewards and child profiles requires an active subscription. Nothing is deleted because a subscription lapses, and you can export a family backup at any time.
5. Free trial
Eligible new subscribers receive one calendar month free through the App Store as an introductory offer. This is approximately 30 days and may vary from 28 to 31 days depending on the start date. The exact trial terms are shown before you start it. If you do not cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the $4.99 monthly subscription begins automatically and renews until cancelled. If you cancel during the trial, you keep access until the trial ends and are not charged. Each free trial is offered once per store account.
6. Cancelling and refunds
You cancel through your Apple Account, not through us: on an iPhone, open Settings > your name > Subscriptions. Deleting the app or deleting a ChoreRally account does not cancel an Apple subscription. Account deletion remains available without requiring subscription cancellation.
Cancellation stops the next renewal. You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for; partial months are not refunded by us. Refund requests for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under its policies, and we do not control those decisions.
7. Chore Bucks are not money
Chore Bucks are virtual family points with no cash value. They exist only inside your household, cannot be bought, sold, transferred outside the family, or exchanged for real money or anything outside the app, and they carry no entitlement of any kind outside ChoreRally. Rewards in the family reward store are promises made by a parent to their own child, and honouring them is the family's own affair. ChoreRally is not a bank, a wallet provider, or a payment service, and holds no real money on anyone's behalf.
8. Acceptable use
ChoreRally is for private family use. You agree not to use it to harm anyone, not to attempt to access another family's household or data, not to interfere with or overload the service, not to reverse engineer the app except where the law grants that right, and not to use ChoreRally for any commercial purpose such as reselling access.
9. Your content
Chore names, reward descriptions, profile names and proof photos belong to your family. By using optional family sync, you grant us the limited licence needed to store and transmit that content between your household's devices — for no other purpose. Proof photos are stored privately, scoped to your household, and are covered in detail by the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
10. No warranties
ChoreRally is provided "as is" and "as available". We work to keep it reliable, but we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose, and we make no warranties, express or implied, beyond those that applicable law does not allow us to exclude.
11. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to ChoreRally is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for loss of data that a reasonably maintained family backup would have prevented. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, or affects statutory consumer rights that cannot be waived, including rights under the South African Consumer Protection Act where it applies.
12. Ending the agreement
You can stop using ChoreRally at any time, and can delete your household as described on the account deletion page. We may suspend or end access to the service for a serious or repeated breach of these terms, and where practical we will warn you first. If we ever discontinue ChoreRally entirely, we will give reasonable notice so you can export your family's data.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product develops. The effective date above always reflects the current version. If a change is material — for example, to pricing structure or to what the subscription includes — we will tell you in the app or by other reasonable means before it takes effect. Continuing to use ChoreRally after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of its courts — except where the consumer protection law of your own country gives you rights and a forum that cannot be excluded, in which case those remain yours.
15. Contact
Questions about these terms, the subscription, or your household: support@chorerally.com. Please write from the parent account's email address so we can verify the household.
